Special places

Here is a piccy of another favourite place we have travelled to recently. Another church as it happens. They just seem to be near churches. Hubby is not religious so it's not that there has to be a church for it to be special. It's probably because there is usually a bench at a church so naturally we go there to sit down, then after spending a little time and having a little cuppa from a flask etc we get to like the place, so we return, then it becomes more special. It was late afternoon and I love the way the light was coming through the trees onto the stone wall and making it all dapply.

Fieldfares flew around squabbling and two sweet little goldcrests appeared between the conifers and some apple trees. They got quite close. It was quite magical. Oh, and two cats came along from a nearly house and did a lot of purring and rubbing up against legs, as they do.

  1. Glad to see you are out and about again. That's a good sign that Ian is at least able to walk a little I hope?
    Cheers

  2. Thanks, Helsie. He can still only walk just a few yards on the flat without oxygen. With it, about 100 maybe. But after a few awful days he is picking up again. Hope he will stay like that for Christmas.

  4. Barb & I always search out the church in a village. As you say there is always a bench for a picnic. There is also, in most cases a place to park the car. I remember a couple of years ago we went to Lulworth Cove and stopped at the church for a look around. It was a nice day so we walked on down to the cove and found that to park lower down it would have cost us £4.00!
The most embarrassing time was at Thame church. We were sat there on a bench, picnic box, thermo, sandwiches and crisps all spread out on the seat - when a funeral turned up and filed past. There was no time to pack it all up and we just 'sat it out'.
    Cheers...B

  5. Ann: Hello! Thank you and I hope you too both have a lovely Christmas.

Bernard: Ooops! It must have felt very awkward for you sitting there!
